Kayaking and canoeing is a rowing sport in which two types of boats are used: kayaks and canoes. It has been an Olympic sport since 1936 (it was first introduced at the 1924 Olympic Games as an unofficial sport). In addition to kayaking and canoeing (or rowing on "smooth water"), there are a large number of other disciplines using these types of boats.

Kayaking on "smooth water", Olympic disciplines: 16 sets of awards: 12 in "smooth" channel rowing (3 in canoes for men, 5 in kayaks for men and 4 in kayaks for women) and 4 in rowing slalom (2 in kayaks for men men, 1 in canoes for men and 1 in kayaks for women).
